The acceptance isn't just based on fatigue it is based on fear. Cowardice motivates the reactions to Hamas. It's the same cowardice that motivated the Poles to leave the Jews to their fate during the Chmielnicki uprising. The same fear which allowed the Germans to swallow up Czechoslovakia in 1938.
